Why resin flooring works in breweries & distilleries.
Brewery and distillery floors take a combination almost unique in food-and-drink — hot wort spills, lactic and acetic acid from fermentation, sanitiser chemistry from CIP, and constant standing water around tanks. Painted concrete fails within a season. A polyurethane screed laid to falls, coved to walls and drainage-integrated is the only flooring specification that survives the environment long-term.

Installation process
- 1Tank-plan survey
Tank layout, wash-down regime, CIP chemistry and drainage strategy captured before spec.
- 2Phased shutdown planning
Programme built around brew days and CIP cycles; often zone-by-zone or over annual maintenance shutdown.
- 3Diamond grinding and repair
Full mechanical prep; slab spall and joint repair reinstated with resin mortar.
- 4PU screed to falls
Trowel- or pump-applied PU screed to the specified thickness, worked to drainage falls.
- 5Cove, drainage and detailing
Radiused cove to walls and tank plinths; drainage upstands dressed into screed.
- 6Seal and handback
Aliphatic PU seal for chemical and colour stability; cure and return-to-service times vary by system and site conditions.
Maintenance
- Daily wash-down with pH-neutral or mildly alkaline detergent
- Weekly foam-clean with brewery-approved caustic at correct dilution
- Quarterly inspection of tank-plinth coves, drainage and slip aggregate
- Aggregate top-up in standing-water zones based on observed wear and inspection

Will the floor cope with hot wort and CIP chemistry?
A PU screed can be specified to be thermal-shock and acid-rated to handle both wort spills and caustic CIP, provided it's installed on a properly prepared slab and the system is selected to suit the chemistry involved.
Can you install without stopping production?
In most cases, yes. We work zone-by-zone around brew days or use annual shutdown windows for the brewhouse. Programme and cure requirements depend on the resin system selected, and single-shift turnarounds can be discussed at spec stage.
Can you retrofit drainage falls?
Yes — the PU screed itself is worked to falls during install, and slot drains or gulleys are dressed in with stainless upstands. No cutting into the base slab in most cases.
