They have to be safe, easy to clean, quiet under trolley wheels and cheap to keep looking presentable through a ten-year capital cycle. Site walk in the term before with the estates team; programme locked around exam and inset dates.

Where suspected asbestos-containing materials are encountered, appropriate specialist assessment/removal is arranged before flooring work proceeds.
- 3Diamond grinding
Full mechanical prep with dust-extracted grinders — no wet slurry in academic buildings.
- 4System install
PU screed, epoxy or flake system laid to spec, coved to walls and detailed at thresholds.
- 5Line marking and handback
Inlaid marking; cure and return-to-service times vary by system and site conditions, programmed to be ready before the first day of term.
Maintenance
- Daily deck-scrub with pH-neutral detergent
- Weekly foam-clean in canteen and kitchen zones
- Termly inspection of coves, thresholds and drainage
- Summer-window refresh coats renew the surface without full reinstatement

How slip-safe are the corridors?
Corridor systems are slip-rated to an appropriate level, with a light-broadcast surface — safe under wet-mop clean but comfortable under school shoes and trolley wheels.
