Factory Resin Flooring
Every factory floor we've installed has been phased around the production plan. Phased handback on some cells, weekend shutdowns on others. Heavy-duty epoxy or PU screed, chosen against the chemistry and shift pattern on your floor.
Why resin flooring works in factory.
Factory floors have to survive point loads from bolted-down machinery, hydraulic-oil and coolant spills, wheeled traffic between cells, wash-down at line changeovers and constant abrasion from swarf and pallet trucks. A painted or bare slab dusts, cracks and turns into a maintenance liability inside a season. A specified resin system gives you a sealed, chemical-resistant and easily inspected production surface.
We install into CNC and press shops, assembly plants, injection-moulding halls, food and beverage factories, chemical plants and coatings works across the Midlands. Every spec is chosen against the actual chemical exposure, wheel loading and shutdown window on site.
Common flooring challenges
- Hydraulic oil, coolant and cutting fluid stripping standard coatings
- Point loads and vibration under bolted machine bases spalling concrete
- Wash-down water pooling in poorly-falled bays around cells
- Cracked slabs and dusting concrete contaminating precision components
- Uncoordinated shutdown windows blocking full-hall reflooring
Recommended resin systems
High-build epoxy for CNC, press shop and assembly bays with hydraulic and cutting-fluid exposure.
Thermal- and chemical-shock rated for wet-process, food and beverage production.
For chemical plants, plating shops and battery manufacturing with aggressive acid exposure.
Fully conductive systems for electronics assembly and battery-cell production.
Cell, aisle, hazard and pedestrian zones colour-mapped as part of the finish for lean-manufacturing layouts.
Installation process
- 1Production survey
Machine layout, chemical inventory, wash-down regime and shutdown windows captured before spec.
- 2Phased shutdown planning
Programme built around production windows — cell-by-cell, weekend or annual shutdown.
- 3Diamond grinding and machine-base reinstatement
Mechanical prep, plus resin-mortar reinstatement around removed or re-set machine bolts.
- 4Primer and scratch coat
Chemical-compatible primer with silica broadcast for the working system.
- 5Body coat application
Trowel, roller or pump-applied resin at spec thickness — worked to falls where required.
- 6Zoning, line marking and hazard zones
Aisles, cells and hazard markings installed with the finish for a durable, factory-legible layout.
- 7Cure, inspect and handback
Cure and return-to-service times vary by system and site conditions.
Maintenance
- Daily deck-scrub with pH-neutral detergent; targeted degreaser at hydraulic drip zones
- Weekly inspection of machine bases, drainage and expansion joints
- Immediate spot-repair of any impact or hot-swarf damage using compatible resin mortar
- Re-application of line marking based on observed wear and inspection for high-traffic aisles
Relevant regulations & standards
- HSE workplace slip-resistance and machinery-guarding traffic separation
- COSHH considerations for on-site resin installs
- Fabric-of-production considerations for food factories, subject to the manufacturer's technical documentation
Factory FAQs
Can you re-floor around live production lines?
Yes. We phase installs cell-by-cell around your production plan, with resin systems chosen to suit single-shift turnaround requirements.
Will the floor take my hydraulic and cutting-fluid spills?
A heavy-duty epoxy or PU system is chemical-rated for the fluids typical of press, CNC and injection-moulding shops without softening or discolouration.
Can machinery be re-bolted straight through the coating?
Yes. We can coat around anchor positions or over freshly set anchors depending on the sequence — bonds are engineered for point-load service.
Do you handle expansion and construction joints?
Joints are cut, cleaned and re-sealed over the finished floor with movement-tolerant sealant to prevent reflective cracking.
How much downtime do we need to plan for?
Downtime depends on the system selected and site conditions. Full production halls are usually phased over weekends or annual shutdown windows.
Can the floor be colour-coded for lean-manufacturing?
Yes — aisles, cells, hazard zones and pedestrian walkways can be mapped in different RAL colours as part of the base finish.
Do you install anti-static systems?
Yes. Fully conductive ESD systems with earthing grids are specified for electronics assembly and battery production.
What lifespan should we expect?
We don't quote a fixed figure — it depends on the system, substrate, environment, loading, use and cleaning. Factory floors are normally maintained with a major re-coat and routine spot repairs at high-wear points rather than replaced.
Can you install food-grade production floors?
Yes — polyurethane screeds coved to walls are our standard food-factory spec. Systems can be selected for food-production and hygiene-sensitive environments where supported by the manufacturer's technical documentation.
Do you provide COSHH and RAMS?
Yes. Full pre-start documentation, product data sheets and site-specific method statements are supplied for every commercial install.
