Automotive Resin Flooring
Workshops, MOT bays, PDI centres and main dealers all need a floor that survives real bay life: hot tyres, brake fluid, jack-point loads and daily footfall. We specify the resin system around the bay layout, not the other way round.
Why resin flooring works in automotive.
Automotive floors take point loads under jacks and lifts, chemical attack from brake fluid, coolant and diesel, hot-tyre pickup from turning wheels, and constant footfall between bays. A painted concrete floor lasts one MOT cycle. A properly specified epoxy or PU system will run the life of the workshop tenancy.
We install for JLR supply-chain workshops, main-dealer showrooms, PDI centres, independent MOT stations, body shops and race-team workshops across Coventry, Birmingham, Solihull and the wider Midlands.
Common flooring challenges
- Hot-tyre pickup lifting cheap epoxies within weeks
- Brake fluid, engine oil and battery acid softening non-resistant coatings
- Point loading under two-post lifts and axle stands cracking thin screeds
- Line-marking to VOSA / MOT bay layouts wearing off within months
- Dust from bare concrete contaminating paint booths and PDI areas
Recommended resin systems
Two-coat, high-build epoxy at a system-specific film build for workshops and MOT bays; the everyday automotive spec.
Vinyl chip broadcast into epoxy for slip resistance, hidden dirt and dealership-grade appearance.
Aliphatic PU wear coat over epoxy where hot-tyre pickup, UV or aggressive chemicals demand it.
Resin-inlaid line marking to VOSA MOT bay layouts, walkways and no-go zones — far more durable than painted lines.
Installation process
- 1Substrate survey
Moisture, oil contamination and previous-coating tests before quote is finalised.
- 2Diamond grinding
Full mechanical prep with dust-extracted grinders; oil-shadow degreasing where required.
- 3Damp-tolerant primer
Epoxy primer suited to workshop RH; oil-blocking primer where diesel/hydraulic contamination exists.
- 4Body coats
Two coats of high-build epoxy roller-applied or squeegee-and-back-roll for even film thickness.
- 5Optional flake broadcast
Vinyl chip cast to refusal, vacuumed back and locked with clear seal for slip and appearance.
- 6Line marking
Masked and resin-inlaid MOT bay lines, walkways and hazard zones.
- 7Handback
Cure and return-to-service times vary by system and site conditions.
Maintenance
- Daily sweep with soft brush; weekly wet-mop with pH-neutral degreaser
- Wipe brake-fluid, coolant and battery-acid spills within an hour to avoid staining
- Annual inspection of pit edges, lift plates and roller-shutter thresholds
- Refresh top-coat or line marking when wear indicates it, rather than reinstalling
Automotive FAQs
Will the floor cope with hot-tyre pickup?
Yes — we specify a high-build epoxy with a PU or aliphatic seal on any bay where cars park up warm. Cheap DIY-grade epoxy fails within weeks; the systems we install are engineered for it.
Can you install around live vehicle lifts and pits?
Yes. We work in half-workshop phases or overnight so the other bays keep taking bookings. Pit edges, lift plates and drainage channels are all detailed properly, not just painted around.
Do you do VOSA-compliant MOT bay line marking?
Every MOT bay we install includes resin-inlaid line marking to the current VOSA layout, not painted lines. It outlasts the concrete underneath.
How long before we can drive on it?
Cure and return-to-service times vary by system and site conditions — we'll confirm the programme once the system is specified.
