System overview

A broadcast-aggregate resin build engineered around measured slip performance. Aggregate grade, density and seal-coat count are chosen to hit a specified R-value — R11, R12 or R13 — with documented slip test data for the HSE and insurance file.

Standard on ramps, wash-bays, kitchens, thresholds, wet-process floors and any area with a documented slip risk.

Typical thickness

1.5–3 mm typical — often over an existing prepared substrate or coating.

Chemical resistance

Determined by the underlying resin chemistry (epoxy or PU). We specify the base against your chemical exposure at survey stage.

Installation process

  1. Step 01

    Risk assessment and target R-value

    We walk the area with your H&S team, identify the risk profile and agree the target R-value against HSE guidance.

  2. Step 02

    Substrate preparation

    Diamond grinding or captive shot-blasting to open the substrate profile. Existing coatings are removed where bonded poorly.

  3. Step 03

    Priming and body coat

    Moisture-tolerant primer applied, followed by the pigmented resin body coat.

  4. Step 04

    Aggregate broadcast

    Aluminium-oxide or silica aggregate is broadcast to refusal into the wet layer. Grade is chosen to hit the R-value.

  5. Step 05

    Seal coat

    Clear PU seal coat locks in the aggregate. Number of passes tuned to the target R-value — more seal = smoother.

  6. Step 06

    Slip test and handover

    Pendulum slip test carried out on request. Results issued as part of the O&M pack.

Maintenance guidance

  • Daily: auto-scrub with soft brush and mild alkaline cleaner
  • Weekly: rotary scrub — texture must be cleaned, not just wiped
  • Annual pendulum test in safety-critical areas
  • Re-broadcast aggregate at year 8–10 if slip performance drops

Frequently asked questions

A pendulum slip test is carried out on the finished floor and the reading issued with the handover pack. We recommend an annual retest in safety-critical areas.

Higher R-values need mechanical cleaning — soft brush and rotary scrub — not just a mop. Cleaning routine is set out in the handover pack.

Often yes. If the existing coating is well-bonded and mechanically prepared, an anti-slip overlay can be installed at 1.5–2 mm without a full re-lay.

No. R13 is designed for the worst wet or ramp conditions. Over-specifying above the actual risk makes cleaning harder without adding safety. We spec to HSE guidance against the risk profile.

Under normal traffic, no. In heavy wash-down zones the seal coat may erode and the aggregate can be re-broadcast at year 8–10 to restore slip performance.
